At the press conference held on October 30 at MBC’s Golden Mouse Hall in Sangam, the cast and crew of the upcoming fantasy historical drama Moon River gathered, including actors Kang Tae-oh, Kim Se-jeong, Lee Shin-young, Jin Goo, and Hong Suzu, along with director Lee Dong-hyun.
The drama follows a body-swapping romance between a sorrowful crown prince and a bounty hunter who has lost her memory. Hong Suzu plays Kim Woo-hee, the only daughter of the nation’s most powerful official. This marks her first historical drama role since debuting.

When asked if the historical genre added pressure, she replied, “Not necessarily because it’s a historical drama, but I always approach new projects with a mix of excitement and nervousness. I felt reassured because the director really liked my tone. He helped me refine it on set, which gave me the confidence to trust the process.”
On the overall filming atmosphere, she shared, “It was incredibly fun and warm. Everyone—from the cast to the director and crew—had such bright personalities, so the vibe on set was really positive. It didn’t feel difficult just because it was a historical drama. I actually had a great time filming.”

Jin Goo, who plays her on-screen father, also weighed in on their chemistry: “There were three key elements to make us feel like a real family. First was visual compatibility. Suzu subtly mirrored my expressions during filming, even though my character barely emotes—it created a unique synchronicity.” He continued, “Second was our real-life dynamic. To enhance our roles, we kept some distance at first since we didn’t have many scenes together during the 14 episodes. That awkwardness helped portray a natural father-daughter tension. Eventually, we became close off-camera.”
Hong Suzu added the final touch: “At first, I thought Jin Goo would be cold, but he turned out to be very boyish and kind. He talked with me a lot and made me feel really comfortable during filming. I’m grateful for that.”
Moon River premieres on Friday, November 7 at 9:50 p.m. KST on MBC.
