High ranking and affectionate emotional lines, a South Korean BL hit announced a hot update

The BL drama “To My Star,” which has been a hot topic every day since its release last year, will return with a Season 2.

Season 1 of “To My Star” was recognized as the most popular BL (Boy love) drama in Korea last year, opening the door to the expansion of the Korean BL drama market. Since then, Korean BL dramas have been expanding their base beyond the limits of country borders by focusing on OTT service platforms such as Netflix.

Thanks to the rapid growth of the BL drama market, the level of domestic and foreign fans is also increasing. Accordingly, BL dramas to be aired in the future are required to produce more attractive stories paired with more sensuous directions.

In line with this trend, Season 2 of “To My Star” will return with momentum to satisfy the high expectations of global fans. Let’s take a look at three highly-expected points of “To My Star Season 2,” which will prove that they can make a sequel even better than the previous season.

The same cast and production crew

One of the big reasons why fans are usually disappointed with sequels, regardless of movies or dramas, is that the main characters who led the flow of the prequel often leave the sequel works. In particular, if the actor who plays a particular character is replaced or the directing flow changes, fans who have watched the previous episode might feel unfamiliar, which can be an obstacle for them when making use of the popularity of the previous season.

Season 2 of “To My Star” took care of all those concerns at once. Not only the main actors such as Son Woo-hyun and Kim Kang-min, who played in Season 1, but all the cast members, including Jeon Jae-young and Jin Kwon of Newkidd, will participate as they were. The production team also stays the same. Season 2 is being completed with the help of director Hwang Da-seul and the same production staff who directed the previous season.

Broader spectrum of BL drama

Season 2 will come back with a more solid story than before. In the first season, if the main characters, Kang Seo-joon (Son Woo-hyun) and Han Ji-woo (Kim Kang-min), overcome their realistic problems and confirmed each other’s love, the sequel will portray a fresh story and unpredictable development.

Running time: from 110 minutes to about 300 minutes

The overall scale of the series has also grown significantly. The running time, which is three times longer than the previous season (110 minutes in 9 episodes), is noticeable. The viewers expect, not only to be able to see the events experienced by the characters in three dimensions but also to present a more delicate emotional love line.

In addition, the romance scenes, which made many fans excited with the actors’ realistic acting skills, have also increased significantly, drawing attention from fans. It is also noteworthy how the characters who played complex roles such as helping or interfering with the main characters amid the whirlwind of events experienced by Seo Joon and Jiwoo in the previous season, such as Kim Pil-hyun (Jeon Jae-young), Baek Ho-min (Jin Kwon), Kim Hyung-ki (Gong Jae-hyun), and Lee Yoon-seul (Han Ji-won) will play their roles in this new season.
