On January 14, former 4Minute member and actress Heo Gayoon appeared on the YouTube channel Sebasi Lecture, where she shared deeply personal memories while reflecting on her long-held dream of becoming a singer.

“I loved singing and dancing from a very young age. Becoming a singer was something I wanted desperately,” she began. That determination, however, placed her in a vulnerable position during her school years.

Heo Gayoon recalled being confronted by a student from another school who accused her of speaking badly about her. “She said she wanted to fight me,” Heo explained, before adding, “Looking back now, I don’t think it was a fight at all. It feels more like I was caught up in school violence.”

Overcome with fear, Heo Gayoon said she chose not to resist. “I was so scared that I told her, ‘I won’t fight back. Just hit me please don’t hit my face,’” she revealed.

Explaining the reason behind her shocking plea, Heo Gayoon said she was living as a trainee at the time. “I was afraid that if my company found out, it could seriously affect my dream,” she said. “I kept thinking, ‘I have to become a singer. I can’t let everything end here.’ So I endured it while being dragged by the hair and beaten.”

She went on to recall that her attacker appeared unsettled by her lack of resistance. “In the end, she even grabbed my hand and told me to hit her back,” Heo said.

Although she now recounts the story with composure, Heo Gayoon admitted that the incident left deep emotional scars. “After that, it became very hard for me to walk alone, and I struggled to trust people,” she confessed, highlighting the long-lasting trauma she endured.

Heo Gayoon’s candid confession has resonated with many viewers, sparking renewed discussion about school violence and the silent suffering of young students pursuing their dreams. Her story serves as a reminder that behind success often lies pain that goes unseen.
