Less than two months after Ningning missed a performance due to health problems following Winter’s health issues, Karina has now announced her absence from an overseas performance on the day of the event due to health reasons.
On July 28th, aespa’s agency SM Entertainment released an official statement, “Regarding the performers for ‘2024 aespa LIVE TOUR -SYNK: PARALLEL LINE- in JAPAN’ held at Asue Arena Osaka on July 28th, aespa’s member Karina will not be participating in today’s performance due to health reasons, following a diagnosis from the doctors after the rehearsal.”
The agency apologized, “We deeply apologize for causing inconvenience to everyone who supports aespa and Karina and who looked forward to this performance. We ask for your understanding and patience.” They also announced, “Today’s performance will proceed with Winter, Giselle and Ningning.”
Earlier, aespa departed for Japan through Gimpo International Airport on July 26th to fulfill their overseas concert schedule. Karina had prepared to meet fans by participating in the concert rehearsal as planned, but unfortunately had to withdraw due to health reasons following the doctors’ diagnosis.
Since May, aespa members have been consecutively experiencing health issues. In May, when aespa made a comeback with “Supernova”, Winter was unable to perform on live stages of Mnet’s “M Countdown”, KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank” and MBC’s “Show! Music Core”. Winter, who had recently undergone pneumothorax surgery, experienced condition issues after a fire occurred during the pre-recording of “M Countdown” due to a problem with the filming set.
SM Entertainment told OSEN, “Winter needs rest and stabilization due to condition issues, so only Karina, Giselle and Ningning will attend the live broadcast of ‘M Countdown’.” They added, “Winter’s participation in activities will be decided based on her recovery status.” She fortunately was able to participate in the full-length album comeback activities.
However, on June 2nd, Ningning missed the “K-WAVE” stage due to health issues. Ningning exhibited symptoms of dehydration and exhaustion during the rehearsal and had to announce her absence on the day of the performance. The agency stated, “We inform you regarding Ningning’s absence from the scheduled K-WAVE stage today. Ningning exhibited symptoms of dehydration and exhaustion during the rehearsal and immediately went to the hospital, where she was advised to get sufficient rest and recovery.”
The agency added, “We apologize for causing concern to fans with this sudden news and will prioritize the artist’s health and safety, doing our best to ensure Ningning’s recovery.”
Despite ongoing concerns from fans, another unfortunate situation has occurred. Less than two months after Ningning announced her absence from a performance due to health issues, Karina has now had to miss a performance due to health problems, leading to continued worry and disappointment among fans.
