MBC’s entertainment program “Hangout with Yoo” will cancel airing.
MBC officially announced through a press release on Nov 3rd, “‘Hangout with Yoo‘ will cancel airing.”
They added, “Episode 159 of ‘Hangout with Yoo’ is scheduled to air at 6:25 PM on Nov 12th.”
MBC did not give a specific reason, but it seems to be the aftermath of the Halloween disaster in Itaewon, Seoul on the night of Oct 29th.
Accordingly, the government designated a national mourning period from Oct 30th to Nov 5th.
Meanwhile, “Hangout with Yoo” is continuing to receive bad news. Last May, “Hangout with Yoo” was sanctioned by the Korea Communications Standards Commission for indirect advertising. Also, in August, the show had to take 3 weeks to recharge due to sluggish ratings.
However, despite the forcible breakthrough of adding 2 new members, viewers’ evaluation is still cold. Especially last month, during the broadcast, Yoo Jae-suk directly mentioned the program’s crisis, saying, “PD Park Chang-hoon is being compared to PD Kim Tae-ho.“
