Han So-hee’s Movie to Be Released In Second Half of 2024
The movie "Heavy Snow," starring actress Han So-hee, has been confirmed for domestic release in the second half of 2024
“Heavy Snow” tells the story of a former child star, Seol (Han So-hee), and an aspiring actress, Soon (Han Hae-in), who meet at an art high school in Gangneung, as they build and navigate their relationship between friendship and love, relying on each other, parting ways, and finding each other again.
Last year, “Heavy Snow” was selected for the Korean Competition section at the Jeonju International Film Festival and sold out in just one minute. It was also officially invited to the London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival organized by the British Film Institute (BFI), the Hamburg Film Festival, and the Rome Asian Film Festival.
Han Hae-in, who plays the lead role, is evaluated as a “gem of the independent film industry” for delivering impactful and profound performances in works such as “My Bloody Lover,” “The Night the Moon Sets,” “Our Midnight,” “Summer of Thoughts,” “The Purpose of Separation,” and “The Door of Night Opens.” In “Heavy Snow,” he portrays Soon, an aspiring actress with an uncertain future who feels confusion in her connection with Seol, who is covered in snow-like confusion.
In her screen debut through “Heavy Snow,” actress Han So-hee is expected to showcase a new side as Seol, a teen star from a child actor background, who feels a special emotion towards Soon, who brings warmth to her cold life, akin to winter.
Directed and written by Yoon Soo-ik, “Heavy Snow” delves into the ambiguous boundary between fantasy and reality, capturing a dreamy sensibility. After its debut at film festivals, it received praise such as, “It is portrayed as a realistic fantasy or a fantastical reality. The inner worlds of the characters depicted through images like rough waves and white snowfields feel like Jackson Pollock’s passionate abstractions. Even the youthful appearance of Han So-hee, who wasn’t famous at the time, is interesting” (Jeonju International Film Festival programmer Moon Seok).
Recently, Han So-hee’s endorsement contracts with NH Nonghyup Bank and the soju brand “Chum Churum” have ended. There are speculations that controversies surrounding her rumored relationship and breakup with actor Ryu Jun-yeol, particularly regarding transfer relationships, may have influenced this.
Amidst all this, the news of Han So-hee’s screen debut in “Heavy Snow” has garnered much attention from the public.
“Heavy Snow” is scheduled for release in the latter half of this year.
