On September 3, a video titled “Mom, Please Lend Me Some Money” Han So-hee’s Mom’s Creepy Recent Activity” was published on the YouTube channel of Lee Jin-ho, a former entertainment reporter.
Lee Jin-ho shared, “I was the first to investigate the debt controversy involving Han So-hee’s mother and even spoke to her directly at the time. Her mother told me that she wouldn’t bother her daughter anymore and wouldn’t contact her again.”
However, he continued, “Although Han So-hee said she cut ties with her mother, it’s not easy to completely sever family ties. After a period of no contact following Han So-hee’s firm statement, her mother started reaching out again, and they have continued to communicate as mother and daughter.”
Lee Jin-ho also revealed that the reality has been harsh, stating, “Once they resumed contact, her mother began asking Han So-hee for financial assistance again. She also reached out to the agency, causing significant distress to those involved.”
Regarding Han So-hee’s troubled childhood, he explained, “After her parents divorced when she was 5 years old, Han So-hee was raised by her grandmother. She moved to Ulsan for high school to live with her mother but was rejected and lived separately after her mother refused to live together. Later, before entering college, Han So-hee struggled with extreme financial difficulties and eventually gave up on college to move to Seoul and start working as a model. That’s when her mother started asking for money.”
As Han So-hee’s career took off and she became a rising star, her mother’s financial demands increased. Despite Han So-hee’s efforts to handle her mother’s financial mishaps, they continued to happen. Her mother borrowed money using Han So-hee’s name, and despite Han So-hee covering for her repeatedly, the problems persisted. It was even reported that her mother would ask for money immediately after the agency’s payday, claiming it was just a short-term loan. There are many unknown victims who have suffered due to her mother’s actions.
Previously, on September 2, TV Chosun reported that Han So-hee’s mother, identified as Shin, was arrested for operating over ten illegal gambling dens. Shin had been running 12 gaming establishments in Ulsan and Wonju since 2021, using a front man. Customers would access the gambling sites Shin managed to recharge game money and gamble in games like baccarat. Shin had previously been fined for similar offenses and had a history of fraud.
In response, Han So-hee released a statement through her agency, expressing her shock and distress upon learning about the situation through the news. The agency firmly stated, “This incident is entirely the result of the mother’s independent actions and has nothing to do with the actress.”
They also apologized for the discomfort caused by sharing such personal matters unrelated to Han So-hee’s professional work.
