Han Ji Min’s Drama “Behind Your Touch” Director Addresses Controversy of Sexual Harassment Allegations: “No Need to Worry”
Director Kim Seok Yoon of “Behind Your Touch” has addressed concerns regarding certain elements in the drama.
On August 10th, an online press conference for the new JTBC weekend drama “Behind Your Touch” was held. Director Kim Seok Yoon, actors Han Ji Min, Lee Min Ki, and EXO’s Suho attended the event.
“Behind Your Touch” tells the story of the upright veterinarian Bong Ye Bun (played by Han Ji Min), who has the psychometry ability to see the past of animals and humans by touching their butts, and the desire-driven elite detective Moon Jang Yeol (played by Lee Min Ki), who needs Bong Ye Bun’s ability to solve cases.
This comical investigative drama unfolds as the peaceful and innocent yet oddly suspicious village duo gets entangled in a series of murder cases and embarks on an extraordinary collaboration.
Director Kim Seok Yoon and writer Lee Nam Gyu reunite after four years to create a unique “psychomic (psychometry x comic) thriller. Accompanied by reliable actors such as Han Ji Min and Lee Min Ki, the drama promises to be engaging.
Director Kim Seok Yoon explained why he cast Han Ji Min and Lee Min Ki: “Discovering a different side of an actor you already know is a great joy. Han Ji Min followed me with trust and performed exceptionally well in the diverse and substantial comedy scenes. The lovable character Bong Ye Bun was perfectly portrayed. Working together on this project was possible due to the bond we shared.” He praised Lee Min Ki’s ability to transform from his previous role and his suitability for the character.
Regarding concerns about Bong Ye Bun’s unique ability being potentially suggestive and inappropriate, the director said, “I’ve heard such concerns. Context is important, in my opinion. Without information about the context before and after, one might receive a different impression. However, there’s no need to worry at all. I believe once the drama airs, it will dispel such worries. Those doubts and concerns will disappear.”
The drama is set to premiere on the 12th of August at 10:30 PM KST.
