On December 25, Sport Kyunghyang released the result of the 7th Wild Berry Film Festival, which was held to select Korea’s worst actors and cinematic works each year. This year, 55 cinematic reports from leading Korean media companies have revealed their picks, and the “Worst Acting” category ended up shocking a lot of netizens,
In particular, Han Hyo-joo received a total of 17 votes in the “Worst Acting” category, making her the actor with worst acting skills in 2023.
This is a huge surprise to many people, considering that Han Hyo-joo received huge praise for her appearance in the Disney+ drama “Moving” released in the same year.
It is reported that it is Han Hyo-joo’s acting performance in “Believer 2” that drew criticisms. Here, the actress assumes the role of new character “Big Knife”, who replaces the first movie’s protagonist.
However, the addition of this character became a huge controversy, as viewers considered Big Knife ill-fitted for the “Believer” franchise, and complained about how Han Hyo-joo felt out of place compared to the rest of the cast, who performed excellently in the first movie.
Reporters who voted for Han Hyo-joo in the “Worst Acting” category also left comments such as, “I almost stopped watching since she couldn’t seem to get into the character”, “A forgettable performance of Han Hyo-joo that ruined her career”, “Han Hyo-joo made for the worst character in ‘Believer 2’”, and “She completely broke the viewers’ immersion in the movie”.
Meanwhile, standing alongside Han Hyo-joo in the “Worst Acting” category list are Ha Jung-woo (11 votes), Yura (10 votes), Park Seong-woong (6 votes), as well as Go Ara, Park Seo Joon, and Kim Hye-soo (5 votes each).
