In Disney+’s series “Moving”, which was released in August, Han Hyo-joo appears as Lee Mi-hyun, a mother who hides her past and raises her son alone. Her superpower is extraordinary five senses and her son Bong-seok (Lee Jung-ha) is a boy who can fly. Through this drama, Han Hyo-joo successfully portrayed the big change in the life of her character, from a melo-romance with Kim Doo-sik (Jo In-sung) to a tough mother who does everything to protect her son.

Moreover, what impressed viewers the most was 36-year-old Han Hyo-joo’s performance as a mother of a high school student. She perfectly immersed herself in the mother role, which would not have been easy for any actress of her age, and excellently won Best Actress in a Series at the Grand Bell Awards. The huge popularity of the drama proved that Han Hyo-joo’s transformation into a mother was also successful.

Right after “Moving” ended, Han Hyo-joo showcased a 180-degree different image. She surprised many viewers with her decision to come out in the movie “Believer 2” as a villain. In addition, the actress even attempted to make changes to her visual to suit her intense and fierce character. This was also the most outstanding transformation in her career until now.

In “Believer 2”, Han Hyo-joo plays Big Knife, the closest associate of Mr. Lee, a big figure in the Chinese drug world. In order to transform into Big Knife, she made her skin look darker, tried a messy hairstyle and wore dentures. To build a muscle body for this role, Han Hyo-joo worked out intensively without drinking water for three days. It was the actress’s effort to bring about the ruthless and rough appearance of Big Knife.

Despite her hard work, “Believer 2” still received mixed responses and some even argued that the character did not suit her. As such, this transformation might not be considered a 100% success.
