On August 14, Han Ga-in uploaded a video to her channel “Free-Spirited Wife Han Ga-in” titled “Shocking First Reveal of Han Ga-in’s Mother Who Thinks Her Daughter Is Ugly”. In the video, Han Ga-in was seen enjoying a meal at a local restaurant with her mother, giving viewers a rare glimpse into her family life.
Laughing, the actress explained, “My mom originally hated the idea of filming. When I asked her to come with me today, she refused at first—then agreed if I did her hair, so I did.” Over brunch, she recalled how her mother supported her during difficult times: “My mom came to stay with me before I had my first child, after I went through three difficult pregnancies. After my first miscarriage, she came to help me recover, and later, when I got pregnant again, I barely left the house until I was seven to eight months along.”
She added, “After my first child was born and then my second, we ended up living together. I love that my kids are growing up with their grandmother.”
Han Ga-in’s mother admitted that she feels distressed whenever she sees malicious comments about her daughter. Han Ga-in said, “She reads everything. I want to take her phone away.” Her mother, however, expressed deep affection, saying, “I want to ask people, ‘Do you even know Han Ga-in?’ She works so hard.”
When asked about her TV habits, Han Ga-in’s mother revealed she enjoys watching MBN’s “King of Singers” and is a fan of singers Enoch, Shin Seung-tae and Kim Junsu. The production staff then joked that Han Ga-in’s “fangirl gene” clearly came from her mother.
Han Ga-in herself has openly embraced her identity as a dedicated fan in the past. On variety shows, she once described herself as a “successful fangirl”, sharing that she had followed idols from Sechs Kies and H.O.T. to basketball star Woo Ji-won, and more recently, BIGBANG’s G-Dragon. She revealed, “I turned down VIP seating at a concert because I wanted to stand and jump in the pit. I even went all the way to Hong Kong for his show.”
The video not only charmed fans by showing her warm relationship with her mother, but also highlighted the shared passion for music and fandom that runs in their family.
