On the morning of December 10, a press conference for MBC’s new daily drama First Man was held at the network’s headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The event featured Ham Eun-jung, Oh Hyun-kyung, Yoon Sun-woo, Park Geon-il, Kim Min-seol, and director Kang Tae-heum.
First Man tells the story of a deadly confrontation between two women: one forced to live another person’s life for revenge, and the other stealing someone else’s life for her own desires.
Ham Eun-jung takes on dual roles as twins Oh Jang-mi and Ma Seo-rin, portraying characters with contrasting personalities: the warm, resilient Jang-mi and the arrogant, wealthy Seo-rin. Oh Hyun-kyung plays their mother Chae Hwa-young, a hotel executive whose elegant appearance hides intense ambition and desire.

Ham Eun-jung admitted that playing two roles simultaneously was challenging. “At first, I felt a lot of pressure wondering if I could pull it off,” she said. “With the guidance of the director and writer, I was able to differentiate the characters through voice tone, emotions, and approach.”
This drama marks Ham Eun-jung’s first project since marrying film director Kim Byung-woo, known for The Terror Live and Omniscient Reader.
She revealed that although they don’t usually discuss work, her husband expressed concern about her stamina due to back-to-back daily drama filming. “We even decided to prepare traditional herbal medicine together,” she said with a laugh.

First Man also reunites Ham Eun-jung and Oh Hyun-kyung, who previously portrayed mother and daughter in Suji & Uri. Oh Hyun-kyung expressed her excitement, saying, “The first reason I chose this project was Eun-jung. I wanted to work with her again and explore completely different characters from our previous drama.”
The drama is penned by writer Seo Hyun-joo, known for the “number series” dramas The Second Husband and The Third Marriage, and is expected to feature her signature fast-paced storytelling. First Man is set to premiere on December 12 at 7:05 p.m. KST.
