Actress Goo Hye-sun has officially embarked on a new chapter in her life as an inventor.

In a recent interview on the YouTube channel Balhan Invention Studio hosted by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), Goo Hye-sun discussed her latest creation a patented hair roller she personally designed and developed.

Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Science Journalism at KAIST, Goo explained that the idea for her invention came from everyday observations. “I kept noticing my friends walking around with hair rollers in their hair,” she shared, revealing the inspiration behind her flat hair roller.

She added with a laugh, “Even celebrities sometimes appear in public with hair rollers still attached. I thought, why not make one that can be opened and attached easily?”

Goo Hye-sun emphasized that her invention was not born out of grand ambition but from simple curiosity. “It’s not a groundbreaking discovery it’s a discovery in daily life,” she said. “For me, invention means discovery, and ultimately, it’s about caring for people.”

Beyond her foray into innovation, Goo Hye-sun is also expanding her creative endeavors. She recently built a two-story studio building, designating the first floor as ‘Goo Hye-sun Film’ and the second as ‘Studio Goo Hye-sun,’ signaling a return to active work in filmmaking and creative production.

Debuting in 2002 through the sitcom Nonstop 5, Goo Hye-sun gained nationwide fame for her role in Boys Over Flowers, followed by appearances in Angel Eyes and other popular dramas. She later married actor Ahn Jae-hyun, her co-star in Blood, in 2016, but the couple divorced in 2019.

Following the divorce, Goo Hye-sun stepped away from acting and focused on other artistic pursuits directing, writing, painting, and composing music. Now, as both a venture company CEO and an inventor, Goo Hye-sun continues to expand her creative horizons, proving that reinvention can be both literal and personal.
