In a recent feature with Allure Korea, Go Hyun-jung revealed that her life has been hectic with constant schedules. “I actually love resting at home, but I’ve been busy every day. Maybe I’m someone who becomes healthier when I work. Strangely, when I stay home too long, my condition worsens. But when I’m working, I forget about it. Sometimes focusing too much on yourself isn’t good either,” she explained.

Go Hyun-jung underwent a major surgery in December last year after being hospitalized due to health deterioration. Reflecting on the experience, she said, “When your body is sick, only the truly important things remain. I realized I had a sort of ‘cool illness,’ trying to appear indifferent even when it wasn’t good for me. Now, I know warmth, care, and small check-ins are what really matter. Since then, I’ve tried to treat my parents better. I call them more often so I won’t have regrets.”

The actress also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from her fans. “I don’t know how to repay it. People leave comments like, ‘Don’t overwork yourself, let’s see each other for a long time,’ just like family would. And whenever someone says, ‘Get well soon,’ another fan replies, ‘Don’t pressure her.’ I’m always touched by that.”

While acknowledging that she’s not fully recovered, Go shared a hopeful update: “The doctors said by autumn, I’ll reduce my medication and feel much more stable. But it’s not completely cured yet.”

Go is preparing for her comeback in the upcoming Queen Mantis, premiering September 5. Speaking about her role, she said, “It’s not a huge production, but the story is fun. My character Jung Yi-shin isn’t one-dimensional—she hides her maternal instincts and has no self-pity, even when facing her son. Meeting him after 20 years, now as a police officer, their interactions are cold and detached, which feels fresh to me.”

Despite health struggles, Go Hyun-jung emphasized her resilience and her passion for acting, proving once again why she remains one of Korea’s most respected actresses.
