On March 9th, Gangnam District in Seoul held the 2026 Distinguished Taxpayer Commendation Ceremony at the district office. The ceremony recognized 10 taxpayers who contributed to the local community through diligent tax payments, and they were awarded commendations on the day. Notably, this year’s distinguished taxpayers included five individuals and five corporations, with Yuri among those honored.

Gangnam District selects distinguished taxpayers every year in order to promote a mature tax culture. The selection applies to individuals, organizations, and corporations that have either a residence or business in Gangnam District. To qualify, candidates must have no tax arrears over the past 10 years and must have faithfully paid at least two local taxes each year for eight consecutive years. In addition, individuals or organizations must have paid at least 10 million won in taxes in the previous year, while corporations must have paid at least 50 million won. Contributions to district development and the local community are also considered during the selection process.

Those selected as distinguished taxpayers are known to receive various benefits, including discounts on health checkups at partnered medical institutions and reduced ticket prices for performances. Meanwhile, recent tax evasion allegations involving celebrities have sparked public debate, with ASTRO member Cha Eun Woo and actor Kim Seon Ho recently facing related controversies.

Yuri debuted in 2007 as a member of SM Entertainment’s girl group Girls’ Generation.
