In 2019, a lot of anti-fans were commenting on Shuhua’s bare-face appearance and compared her with other idols who went out with full makeup on. In the face of ill-intended criticisms, the (G)I-DLE member responded gently, “I’m not a materialist, but I’m trying to enjoy my life. Many people always ask me why you don’t wear makeup, don’t do nails, or dye your hair, I don’t decorate much, but before I go out, I look in the mirror and have my hair combed and neatly dressed. Because it’s comfortable.”
