G-Dragon’s Detailed Hair Drug Test Comes Back Negative – Did Police Push Excessive Investigation?

G-Dragon received a negative result for drug detection even in a detailed hair analysis

The National Forensic Service recently conducted a precise examination of G-Dragon‘s submitted hair, revealing a negative result for drug use within approximately a one-year period, typical for drug testing of hair.

Results for the analysis of G-Dragon’s submitted nails (fingernails and toenails) are yet to be released, as reported by the Incheon Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Team, which received the information from the National Forensic Service.

Police booked G-Dragon on October 25 for alleged violations of drug laws. Despite his denial of drug use, he voluntarily attended police questioning on November 6.

During the first interrogation, a simple reagent test on G-Dragon yielded negative results. Additionally, the police’s recent attempt to obtain a search warrant for G-Dragon’s communication records was rejected due to insufficient evidence.

The confirmation of a negative result in the hair analysis adds to criticisms that the police may have pursued an excessive investigation against G-Dragon.

The National Investigation Headquarters of the Police stated in a press conference on November 13 that deeming it an excessive investigation solely based on the negative results (preliminary drug test) at this point would be an overly hasty judgment.

They emphasized the difficulties in conducting an investigation when the information about the case was disclosed before securing clear evidence.

Responding to criticism about initiating the investigation based on statements from involved parties without clear evidence, they admitted to doing so but highlighted the necessity of initiating an internal investigation before verifying those statements.

G-Dragon’s attorney said on November 10 that the court had rejected the communication warrant due to a lack of evidence and that no search and verification warrant for hair and other samples had been issued.

Despite this, G-Dragon actively cooperated with the investigation, submitting not only urine and hair but also expressing willingness to provide additional samples upon request, including leg hair.
