K-pop icon G-Dragon captured global attention as world leaders attending the APEC 2025 Summit in Korea enthusiastically shared his performance on social media.

On October 29, G-Dragon performed at the welcome dinner hosted at the Lahan Hotel in Gyeongju, becoming the only K-pop artist invited to perform at the exclusive event. Wearing a hat reminiscent of a traditional Korean ‘gat’, he introduced himself as “APEC 2025 Korea Ambassador, singer G-Dragon” and delivered his hit songs to the leaders.

The performance not only showcased his signature style but also captured the hearts of attendees. Leaders and foreign ministers alike filmed the event, later posting photos and clips to their personal social media accounts.

The Malaysian Prime Minister shared photos of G-Dragon performing on Instagram, writing: “Many K-pop fans in Malaysia requested that I share tonight’s G-Dragon performance. Here are a few moments to make them happy.” He added hashtags #APEC2025 and #KPOPForever.

Similarly, the Japanese Foreign Minister posted pictures with President Lee Jae-myung and praised G-Dragon, saying: “Last night’s event was wonderful thanks to Korea’s music icon G-Dragon. Korea is truly amazing.”

Other leaders, including the Mexican minister, also tagged G-Dragon’s account and shared clips with his hit song ‘Heartbreaker’ playing in the background, highlighting their admiration for Korea and K-pop culture.

Even during the broadcast, world leaders such as the Canadian Prime Minister, Chilean minister, and Norwegian Prime Minister were seen taking photos and videos, signaling the global impact of the performance.

The event also featured Cha Eun-woo, currently serving in the military, as the host, impressing attendees with his fluent English and on-stage charisma.

G-Dragon’s APEC performance not only celebrated Korean music culture but also highlighted K-pop’s continued international influence, with world leaders actively engaging as fans.
