On the May 24 episode of MBC’s Take Care of My Mom, Luna and her mother shared heartfelt stories they had never fully discussed in public before.
During the broadcast, Luna’s mother prepared a home-cooked meal for her youngest daughter, including seaweed soup made with homemade soy sauce and acorn jelly. Touched by the familiar taste, Luna could not hide her happiness as she enjoyed the meal.
“My stomach hasn’t been in great condition lately, and I felt like I really needed my mom’s seaweed soup,” Luna said. “When I was going through the hardest time in my life, I survived because of my mom’s seaweed soup.”

Her mother responded warmly, saying, “We really endured a lot together,” offering comfort to her daughter.
Luna then reflected on the health struggles she experienced during her mid-20s while actively promoting as an artist.
“Back then, I kept wondering if what I was experiencing was panic disorder or depression,” she revealed. “Eventually, the panic disorder developed into physical symptoms. The pain felt like someone was repeatedly stabbing my legs with a knife.”
Her candid confession moved viewers and highlighted the severe physical impact mental health conditions can sometimes have.

Recalling those painful days, Luna’s mother became emotional as she described watching her daughter suffer.
“At that time, all I could think about was staying by her side,” she said. “But she didn’t want that. She would say, ‘Mom, can you please leave me alone?’ Still, I refused to give up. I cried and begged her. But she doesn’t even remember those moments now.”
Listening to her mother’s memories, Luna eventually broke down in tears.
“I was suffering too, but now I realize how difficult that time must have been for my parents as well,” she said through tears.
The singer also reflected on the sacrifices her parents made throughout her career.

“Even when I was a trainee, my parents never showed how hard things were for them. I used to think my mom simply never slept. She developed bronchitis because of her work, and her hands would become swollen from working so much,” Luna shared.
Luna explained that her mental health began deteriorating during a period when several people she loved passed away one after another.
“Around the same time, I was working on a project where my character took her own life,” she said. “After that, I was diagnosed with depression and panic disorder. Thankfully, I completed my treatment, and now I’m living a healthy life.”
