From a child actress to a historical K-drama goddess, Lee Se-young’s journey to success over the last 27 years
Loveable child star Lee Se-young has now grown into a ‘trustworthy’ actress. She perfectly portrayed court lady Sung Deok-im, depicting the desperate emotional pain of losing a child.
Debuting in the 1996 SBS drama ‘The Brothers’ River‘ at the age of 5, thanks to the solid acting skills she has accumulated since childhood, she has starred in various works even after becoming an adult, becoming an experienced actress with a lengthy career of 27 years.
At the 2021 MBC Drama Awards, Lee Se-young won Best Couple alongside Lee Jun-ho, her male co-star in ‘The Red Sleeve’, followed by the Female Top Excellence Award in the miniseries category. Both her popularity and her acting talent are acknowledged.
Her memorable acceptance speech also became a trending topic of discussion. Lee Se-young said, “I had a burden and responsibility to act well so that the hard work of other actors, production crew, and staff would not be wasted during the preparation and production, so my role in the drama could be conveyed well to viewers and let the viewers choose us.”
She continued, “I would like to express my gratitude to the viewers for taking time out for over two months on every precious Friday and Saturday evening and sharing joys and sorrows with us. In the future, I will not forget that viewers’ time is a very precious time and do my best not to waste it. And thank you so much to my beloved fans.”
In a recent interview, she said about her New Year’s plans, “I didn’t feel the importance of everyday life because I was busy filming. I think I lived without reflecting on the happiness that passed by in a moment. This year, my goal is to take good care of myself, sleep and spend my time well.” With her acting prowess, Lee Se-young successfully brought another lifetime character to life with Sung Deok-im.
