Former IZ*ONE Nako Yabuki, “I have no regrets as an idol.”

Nako Yabuki, a former member of girl group IZ*ONE, expressed her strong aspirations of wanting to work as an actress rather than an idol.

In an interview with WEB the Television, a Japanese entertainment media, on February 7th (local time), former IZ*ONE member Nako Yabuki expressed her desire to pursue an acting career.

Prior to her graduation from HKT48 on April 1st, the female idol also shared similar feelings. “I was thinking about graduating at the age of 20”, she said, adding, “Before the corona disaster, all the 48 groups gathered and held a 20-year-old coming-of-age ceremony, so I definitely decided to become the center and graduate after the coming-of-age ceremony. But after going to South Korea and other things, I lost that thought…but after I came back, I thought about it again.”

“Rather than when to graduate, I’ve come to think that I want to leave HKT48 with something that I can leave behind before graduating. It’s a good timing for me, a good timing for the fans, and a good timing for the members… I think about everything,” she concluded.

Then, when the host asked if she decided to graduate from HKT48 right after IZ*ONE activities,

Nako Yabuki said, “I was still a high school student and very young then. There were also many seniors and members left in HKT48. At that time, I wanted to work hard in Korea to achieve something and go back to HKT48.”

When asked about her idol life, Nako Yabuki expressed that she had no regrets as an idol. “I feel like I’ve achieved all my goals as an idol. To be the center, to be selected in the general election, or to be selected by AKB48. I think it was a fulfilling life as an idol”, she said.

Nako also promised to try harder so that she would not let her idol image interfere with her acting career.

At the end of the graduation concert at the Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall on April 1, Nako Yabuki will graduate with HKT48’s 16th single album “You Can Do More.”

Last month, Nako Yabuki announced the end of her exclusive contract and her graduation from HKT48 through a post on SNS.

On the other hand, Nako Yabuki debuted as a member of IZ*ONE through Mnet’s survival program “Produce 48” in 2018 and received great love not only in Korea but also around the world. Her former fellow Japanese member in IZ*ONE, Sakura debuted as a member of girl group  LE SSERAFIM in Korea. Therefore, attention is being paid to Nako Yabuki’s future activities.
