Former I.O.I member Kim So-hye, who accused of being a bully, made a comeback after 2 years
Singer and actress Kim So-hye, who had been involved in controversy related to school violence, is making a comeback after about 2 years with the drama ‘Pure-hearted Boxer’.
On the 21st, the production presentation of the new KBS 2TV Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Pure-hearted Boxer’ took place at Hyundai Department Store D-Cube City in Seoul’s Guro-gu. Director Choi Sang-yeol and actors Lee Sang-yeop, Kim So-hye, Park Ji-hwan, Kim Hyung-muk, Kim Jin-woo, Ha Seung-ri, and Chae Won-bin attended the event.
On this day, Kim So-hye expressed her feelings about returning after about 2 years, saying, “As someone who wants to act well, I came across the script of ‘Pure-hearted Boxer’ during a period of contemplation for 1-2 years. I thought the message of this work was the determination of a person thrown into unhappiness.”
She continued, “I felt that the choices and growth process of Kwon Sook, who faces unhappiness, were similar to mine,” and added, “I really wanted to do this work, and I participated with gratitude to the director and the production team who gave me this opportunity.”
Previously, Kim So-hye was embroiled in school bullying allegations in 2017 and again in 2021. In 2017, it was revealed that Kim So-hye was not the perpetrator but rather the victim, and the whistleblower apologized.
However, in 2021, controversy arose when it was belatedly revealed that Kim So-hye had been called in by the school violence committee during her first year of middle school due to a misunderstanding with another student.
Her agency explained, “Kim So-hye had a misunderstanding with another student that led to the school violence committee being convened. She personally met with the other party, apologized, and resolved the misunderstanding through conversation.”
Meanwhile, ‘Pure-hearted Boxer’ is a drama that depicts the story of the disappeared genius boxer Lee Kwon-sook (played by Kim So-hye) and the cold-blooded agent Kim Tae-young (played by Lee Sang-yeop) as they strive to escape a life of match-fixing. The drama premiered on the 21st at 9:45 PM.
