Former DIA Ahn Somyi reveals heartbreaking reason to being a BJ, from poor family to mental illnesses

Ahn Somyi, a former member of girl group DIA, confessed her heartbreaking inside story of becoming a BJ.

BJ Ahn Somyi, a former member of girl group DIA, appeared on the March 28th broadcast of Channel S’ “Attack on Sisters”.

Here, Ahn Somyi said, “I’ve been working as a BJ for a year now. I’m being criticized a lot as I used to be an idol. After the group’s disbandment, I finished my exclusive contract and chose BJ as my new job, but I’m suffering from criticism and malicious comments because it’s a platform with many adult broadcasts.”

In particular, Ahn Somyi, who is under greater criticism because of DIA’s “innocent idol” image, expressed her resentment, “My exclusive contract ended and I’m no longer a celebrity.”

Ahn Somyi continued, “I recently posted a photo of myself smoking an e-cigarette on my personal SNS. It was never a photo that encouraged people to smoke, but someone commented, ‘I’m falling out of love with you.’ I replied, ‘Why do you care whether I smoke or not?’ I was criticized when there were articles about this issue.”

When asked if she had ever thought of other jobs, Ahn Somyi answered, “After leaving the agency, I worked part-time as a shopping mall model, beauty model and cafe employee. But that income only supported my living expenses.”

Ahn Somyi, whose father’s business failed several times, shed tears, saying, “I worked hard in DIA, but I couldn’t cross the break-even point, so I received 700,000 won in monthly allowance from my parents even though my family situation was difficult. My father currently runs a jjamppong store in Jeju Island during the day and works as a chef at a small hotel in the evening. My mother had a career break after giving birth, there’s a limit to contract workers, so she’s looking for a factory job.”

Ahn Somyi confessed, “I’ve been receiving psychiatric counseling for a long time. I have severe bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder and panic disorder. There were times when I couldn’t sleep for two days. I sleep for 12~16 hours if I take sleeping pills. The doctor says it’s better to take medicine, but this interferes with the next day’s broadcast. I fall asleep when I drink, so I drink alone every day.”

Park Mi Sun was worried about Ahn Somyi’s current situation, which is more serious than expected, saying, “I think you need to take a break from broadcasting.” However, Ahn Somyi shed tears and shared, “I have no income if I take a break from broadcasting. It’s a bond I can’t get out of. I feel like if I collapse, my family will be over.”
