On September 4, Yejin appeared on the YouTube channel “1ma2c”, where she opened up about her journey since debuting with Brave Girls in 2011 and departing in 2014. Yejin admitted she has never regretted her decision, even when the group skyrocketed to fame years later with the viral hit “Rollin’.” She explained, “I was genuinely happy for them. They endured so much longer than I did, so of course such a good day would come. I was thankful they still used the name Brave Girls because otherwise no one would have remembered me.”
Yejin revealed her departure was due to multiple factors, noting that as the company’s first girl group, they were managed under strict rules. “We weren’t allowed to freely socialize with other idols at music shows. For me, the hardest part was being so young and unable to even see my family for years. The frustration lasted two to three years, and since we weren’t making money, it felt like there was no sense of accomplishment,” she shared.

She also disclosed her struggles with depression after leaving: “Because it was something I truly wanted, I’ve never watched a music show since. It was painful to give up my dream, and I often felt jealous and thought, ‘Why am I like this?’ Those emotions still linger, so I don’t even keep up with boy groups or girl groups now.”
Currently working as a show host, Yejin said timing worked in her favor. “When Brave Girls went viral again with ‘Rollin’, I had just passed my exam to become a show host. It’s been four years now, and while it’s tougher than being an idol, I’m happy with where I am.”
