Following (G)I-DLE, Super Junior D&E Is Next To Withdraw From Music Shows Due To Controversial Lyrics

Super Junior D&E has completely stopped their comeback activities

Earlier, (G)I-DLE released their second full-length album in January. However, the song “Wife,” which was released prior to the release of the album, was embroiled in controversy over its overly sexual lyrics, leading to criticism against member Soyeon, who participated in writing, composing, and arranging the song.

The controversy intensified as KBS ruled (G)I-DLE’s new song “Wife” ineligible for broadcast due to “excessively sensationalized lyrics.” The group’s agency announced that it has decided not to re-write the song’s lyrics.

Likewise, you will not be able to see Super Junior-D&E’s comeback performances on TV. The title of their new song “GGB” is the problem. Super Junior-D&E was scheduled to release its fifth mini album “606 (SIX ZERO SIX)” on March 26th. This is their first album released after they left SM Entertainment. However, after the title of the song was released, some fans pointed out that they were disparaging women as the title “GGB (지지배)” is a word that speaks lowly of women in Korean.

As the controversy grew, Super Junior-D&E eventually decided to stop its comeback activities altogether. It is difficult to change the album because much of the production has already been carried out, but they accept the criticism and say they will not broadcast the music. However, they decided to release all the contents produced for their fans.

ODE Entertainment, the unit group’s agency, explained on its official channel on March 16th, “We were aware of the issues and opinions on the title song of this album, “GGB”, and had an internal meeting with the artist. The song expresses the feeling of missing a separated lover,” adding, “We never intended to express the song in a negative way like the concerns fans sent us,” explaining the controversy over the title of the new song.

Super Junior-D&E’s agency said, “We have decided to cancel all music broadcasting activities that were scheduled after the release after collecting various opinions from artists and staff.”
