On July 9, the official account of girl group FIFTY FIFTY posted several stories celebrating member Keena’s 22nd birthday.
Among the photos, one particularly drew attention by showing what appeared to be 4 other members alongside Keena. All sporting long hair and butterfly-shaped balloon wings, they celebrated Keena’s birthday together. The photo only revealed their hands and backs, further heightening anticipation.
Until recently, FIFTY FIFTY was operating as a one-member group with just Keena under ATTRAKT. FIFTY FIFTY, belonging to the small agency ATTRAKT, achieved remarkable success on overseas charts in the U.S. and the U.K., earning the nickname “the miracle of the small agency.” However, less than a year after their debut, in June last year, the members filed for a provisional injunction to suspend their exclusive contracts and entered into a legal dispute with the agency.
This led to a legal battle involving ATTRAKT, the members, and the outsourced company The Givers, whose CEO An Seong-il was accused of tampering. The court dismissed the provisional injunction filed by FIFTY FIFTY, and patent offices in various countries, including Korea, sided with ATTRAKT. As a result, member Keena withdrew her appeal and returned to ATTRAKT, while the contracts with the other members, Saena, Sio, and Aran, were terminated.
Recently, ATTRAKT announced that FIFTY FIFTY’s 2nd generation, formed through a private audition, has been restructured into a five-member group and is preparing for a comeback in September. This has fueled curiosity about the new members who will join FIFTY FIFTY.
