What began as a desperate attempt to protect his son has turned into a nightmare for a father in South Korea, who is now facing a sexual harassment accusation from the very teenager he tried to restrain.

The shocking story was reported on April 30 by JTBC’s Crime Chief. According to the broadcast, Mr. A, a man in his 50s, received a late-night call from his middle school son on April 25. The boy said his friend was being assaulted by a group of older teens near a PC café in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.

Mr. A rushed to the location, where he encountered a crowd of about 30–40 teenagers, including a known group of school dropouts and bullies who had previously threatened his son with messages like, “If you don’t come out, I’ll kill you.”

Upon arriving, Mr. A successfully separated his son from the mob, only to be surrounded and mocked. One teen reportedly said, “Who are you, mister? Want a cigarette?”

When Mr. A grabbed one teen by the waistband in an attempt to restrain him, the boy suddenly shouted, “Why are you touching my private parts? Is this sexual harassment?” Other teens joined in, yelling, “You’re done, mister! You’re going to jail for this!”

Police arrived and briefly calmed the situation, but the next day, Mr. A received a text demanding a settlement. After refusing, the student filed a sexual harassment complaint against him. The teen’s parents later called Mr. A, not to apologize, but to also demand a settlement, claiming they had video evidence.

Mr. A denied the allegations, stating, “I sarcastically said, ‘Sure, I touched you,’ because the accusation was so absurd. My wife was there, we called the police ourselves—how could that even make sense?”

“It’s heartbreaking. A child is making threats, and the parents are supporting it. What kind of world are we living in?” Mr. A added.

This case has sparked a broader conversation about the protection of minors, the consequences of escalating school violence, and the pressure parents face in safeguarding their children from harmful situations.
