Fashion Industry Professional Mocked Belift Lab’s Claim of “ILLIT-core”
As Belift Lab claimed their creation of a style called “ILLIT-core”, a fashion industry professional showed an adverse reaction.
On June 11, a topic titled “ILLIT-core according to a fashion industry professional” was published on the Korean forum theqoo, drawing attention with over 60,000 views and 200 comments.
In particular, the topic referred to Belift Lab’s claim of having created a style call “ILLIT-core” that sets their girl group, ILLIT, apart.
However, a fashion industry professional has left a rather scathing comment regarding such á claim, asking, “What part of the fashion world is using the new term “ILLIT-core”…? I’ve been in the industry for several years and have participated in several seasonal launches, but I’ve never heard the term ‘ILLIT-core’ used even once in this field.”
“Even NewJeans, which has had a profound influence on fashion among women in their teens and twenties, has never been given the term ‘NewJeans-core’. Furthermore, even South Korea’s greatest icon GD has never been called ‘GD-core’. The outfits of Ailite are just stage costumes that ordinary people can’t wear outside”, they also stated, adding, “The stage costumes of Ailite do not offer the kind of natural elegance that would justify the use of the term ‘core’; they are simply flamboyant stage outfits.”
On top of that, the fashion industry professional also described ILLIT as “an idol group that cannot be considered trendsetters in the fashion world to the extent that they would influence brand reference meetings during season planning”.
Under the comment section, most netizens seem to agree with such assessment. Many of them mock the term “ILLIT-core” and the company’s arrogance in claiming such a term.
