Fans Call Out SM Over NCT 127’s Drastically Reduced Album Sales for “Fact Check”

SM is under fire as NCT 127’s latest album sales drop sharply, leading to concerns over stocking problems

NCT 127, among the 3rd gen top boy groups, has long been known for their high physical album sales every comeback. The group’s third full album “Sticker” released in 2021 achieved a remarkable 2.4 million sales within a week. Last year, NCT 127’s 4th full album “2 Baddies” boasted an astounding first-week sales of 1.5 million copies. However, the numbers recorded for the physical sales of NCT 127’s 5th and latest full album “Fact Check” have left fans perplexed.

According to the numbers reported by Koreaboo, “Fact Check” saw a shocking drop in sales compared to previous NCT 127’s albums, with a mere 256,800 copies sold on day 1. In stark contrast, “Sticker” recorded over 760,000 copies sold on the first day. After three days, “Fact Check” has only managed to reach 278,775 copies sold.

This unbelievably drastic decline in NCT 127’s sales has raised alarm and sparked numerous speculations, many of which attribute the blame to the group’s company SM Entertainment’s historical problems with managing their stock.

Despite being a Big 3 entertainment company, SM has faced prior criticism for stock-related problems. Fans have repeatedly expressed anger over the availability of “Fact Check” albums in various stores, as they believe insufficient stocks are the main reason for declining sales.

Last year, SM had to issue a statement about one version of Red Velvet’s album quickly selling out within hours of preorders opening on multiple platforms. SM’s official statement acknowledged limited production, which disappointed Red Velvet’s fans. NCT 127’s fans now raise concern that history is repeating with the boy group.
