However, a fan call of SEVENTEEN’s Joshua recently became a heated topic of discussion, leading to outrage among the fandom.
In particular, a fan published footage of a fancall with Joshua, claiming that the male idol was constantly distracted by his phone instead of focusing on talking with them.
“Did I spend tens of thousands of dollars to watch you play on your phone”, the fan wrote, showing dissatisfaction, leading criticism targeting Joshua.
However, it was later revealed that the situation was likely not what it seemed. In particular, another fan who had a fan call on the same day mentioned that when they asked Joshua to sing a song, the male idol said he could not remember the lyrics and had to look them up on his phone.
Netizens quickly noticed that this video of Joshua matched the footage published by the fan that accused Joshua of being distracted and using his phone, leading to suspicions that the fan maliciously edited the footage to frame Joshua.
As a result, fans are greatly angered and started trending #PLEDIS_PROTECT_JOSHUA on SNS platforms. They also asked for the one who spread wrong information about Joshua’s fan call attitude to be banned from future SEVENTEEN events.
