Netizens re-examined fans’ comments about G-Dragon’s drug use speculations from months ago
BIG BANG’s G-Dragon is under investigation by the police on drug charges. Prior to this, fans had already found unusual behaviors of G-Dragon and raised concerns.
Most of the concerns poured out after G-Dragon traveled to Los Angeles, US on May 9th to attend the 2023/24 Cruise Show by Chanel, the brand he is modeling for as an ambassador.
Before departing for LA, G-Dragon arrived at Incheon International Airport and stood in front of media reporters. During his departure process, various abnormal behaviors of G-Dragon were captured on the cameras.
Showing up at the airport in luxury outfits, G-Dragon began stumbled as soon as he got out of the car. While waiting for the signal to cross the road, he kept stretching his body.
Fans also raised concerns over G-Dragon’s unusual behaviors at the airport. He couldn’t walk properly and repeatedly put on and took off his beanie. He moved his fingers nonstop and looked unstable most of the time.
Seeing that, fans went online and left comments speculating about the possibility of G-Dragon’s drug use. They said, “That’s too bad. Because of drugs, he doesn’t look normal at all. I think he needs help as soon as possible”, “Sorry but I think he took drugs. People around G-Dragon should pay attention to him”, “It’s such a shame that he didn’t noticed know what to do with his body and couldn’t quit it alone”, etc.
Apart from drug use suspicions, fans were also worried about G-Dragon’s safety, saying “I was very shocked to see his behaviors. I looked up G-Dragon’s videos a week before and I felt very upset. I hope someone will save him. Did you really touch drugs?”, “He gave me the same feeling when I looked at Yoo Ah-in”, “If you don’t think he’s weird after seeing such videos, that’s the problem. Seems like he is seriously addicted to drugs”, etc.
In the end, fans’ concerns turned into reality. As soon as the news of G-Dragon’s drug investigation broke out, past comments from fans have been re-examined.
On October 25th, Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Narcotics Investigation Team announced that they were investigating G-Dragon on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Actor Lee Sun-kyun is also struggling with drug allegations.
The police judged that G-Dragon’s drug use was a separate case from Lee Sun-kyun’s scandal, and booked the BIG BANG leader without detention.
Previously in 2011, during BIG BANG activities, the prosecution investigated G-Dragon on the suspicion that he smoked cannabis but later suspended it.
