“Fancam with 1 million views? I actually expected that”… A former girl group member gives a belated confession

H.U.B Rui released a behind story about the famous close-up video of her on the way home from work.

On November 4th, a video titled “‘Idol Star Athletics Championships’ track and field legend… Whereabouts 3 years after her sudden disappearance” was uploaded on the Youtube channel “근황올림픽”.

Rui, a former member of H.U.B, drew attention by winning MBC’s “Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC)” track and field for two second consecutive years in 2017 and 2018. Rui said, “At that time, I told my CEO that I had to join ‘ISAC’ no matter what and they let me go on the program. When I was running, I looked on both sides and no one was there”, revealing her amazing speed at that time.

Rui also revealed a behind-the-scenes story about the popular close-up video of her on the way home after finishing a schedule at SBS MTV’s “The Show”. The fancam, which shows Rui boasting her healthy beauty in a white T-shirt and jeans, surpassed 1 million views. Rui frankly said, “I wondered what I should wear on my way home from work to arouse issues from early in the morning and then decided on that outfit. I thought people would like to see me wear a white T-shirt and jeans, and I really became an issue. I thought I could draw attention if someone filmed me”.

Rui confessed, “My company was small, so we didn’t have many opportunities to promote. That’s why I tried to make issues whenever I had a schedule”. She continued, “Many people gave bad comments about me and even said I looked cheap. Still, I acknowledged the idea of healthy sexiness and tried to make issues or hot topics. Receiving no attention is scarier”.

It is known that Rui has been working part-time since she moved to Japan in 2019. Rui said, “I’m working at a Korean restaurant. The average hourly wage for part-timers in Japan is about 1,000 won, but they give me 13,000 won. I used to work at a convenience store. I’ve been living like that since before. My father passed away when I was in middle school, so my mother raised me alone. I worked 16~18 hours a day from the morning until dawn. Even when I was active in Korea, I went to a cafe and worked part-time after music show schedules. I don’t mind working long hours now, but I feel tired because this is not what I want to do”, revealing that she still wants to do entertainment activities.

Rui cried and shared, “I miss everyone so much. I spent my youth in Korea, so all of my friends are also in Korea. I felt lonely every time I went to the hospital in Japan. When my group disbanded, I couldn’t tell my mom about that and kept wondering how to get home. I spent quite a long time taking sleeping pills”.

However, Rui said she has been working hard to resume her activities by obtaining a Pilates certificate and a first-degree Korean proficiency test. She is also looking for an agency. Rui said, “I want to continue doing entertainment activities. I hope you will pay lots of attention to me”.

Rui made her debut as a member of H.U.B in 2016 and returned to Japan after her group disbanded in 2019.
