EXO’s Chanyeol Faces Mixed Reactions from K-Netizens Ahead of Solo Concert

Chanyeol’s solo concert, titled ‘2024 CHANYEOL LIVE TOUR: City-scape in SEOUL,’ will be held at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, from September 6 to 7.

The pre-sale for fan club members was held on Interpark Ticket’s official website on the 7th, with public ticket sales beginning the following day.

Even after about a week since ticket sales began, tickets have not sold out.

As of 9 AM on the 14th, there were still 1 VIP seat and 464 regular seats available for the September 6 concert, and 360 regular seats for the September 7 concert.

Previously, EXO members D.O. and Baekhyun not only sold out their concerts but also held encore performances in Seoul, receiving much love from fans.

In April, EXO also successfully held a full-group fan meeting, ‘2024 EXO FAN MEETING: ONE – Incheon.’

As a representative third-generation boy group, EXO remains very popular, so the fact that Chanyeol’s concert has not sold out has caught the attention of many K-pop fans.

Previously, in 2021, there was a controversy regarding Chanyeol’s private life. At that time, a netizen A posted on an online community claiming to be Chanyeol’s ex-girlfriend.

This person claimed that Chanyeol had cheated on her with about 10 women, including girl group members, YouTubers, dancers, BJs, and flight attendants, during the three years they were dating.

At that time, his agency, SM Entertainment, did not issue any official statement. Later, Chanyeol posted an apology, saying, ‘I want to apologize for causing concern.’

Chanyeol mentioned the controversy, saying, ‘I’m very sorry that I couldn’t express myself in words, and it was a time when I thought a lot about EXO-L (fandom name).’

He said, ‘I’ve thought countless times about how to protect and repay the precious hearts of EXO-L, and I’ve reminded myself not to make you worry anymore,’ and ‘I will do my best to prove that your trust was not misplaced.’

Regarding this incident, SM Entertainment said, ‘We are suing those who spread false information about Chanyeol, and we have received information that the police have identified the accused and sent them to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.’

Blue Square Mastercard Hall, where Chanyeol is holding his concert, can accommodate up to 2,400 people on the first floor if there are standing seats, and the second floor can hold 381 people, including 371 audience seats and 10 wheelchair-accessible seats. The combined capacity of the first and second floors is approximately 2,800 people.

Since the performances are being held over two days, it seems that about 5,600 people will be able to attend this event.

Recently, Urban Zakapa and singer Younha have held concerts at Blue Square Mastercard Hall, and the group STAYC is set to hold a fan meeting there. Before his solo concert, Chanyeol will release his first mini album ‘Black Out’ on the 28th and begin promotions.

Additionally, Chanyeol’s tour will start in Seoul and continue to 10 Asian cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, Bangkok, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya, Jakarta, and Hong Kong.

Many are curious to see if Chanyeol can win back the hearts of fans through this activity.

Many K-netizens, including those using profile pictures of other EXO members, have reposted this article with the following comments:

  • “Does SM hate Chanyeol so much that they’re giving him a solo concert just to embarrass him?”
  • Attaches video of Chanyeol pretending to play the piano “If this concert were labeled as a one-handed fake piano concert, it would have been sold out already.”
  • “Is this a concert or a talk show about dating 10 people at once?”
  • “Ridiculous. This guy can’t sing, dance, or play any instruments, yet he’s thinking of holding a solo concert. It’s probably going to be a talk show about the 10 women he’s dated.”
  • “If you’re going to hold a solo concert, you should at least have some talent, right? The group’s fame won’t save him.”
  • “So embarrassing it’s uncomfortable.”
  • “So confident”
