On August 16th, the Incheon International Airport Police announced that they had indicted without detention A, the 40-year-old representative of the private security firm, along with three others on charges of violating the Security Services Industry Act.
The other three individuals included two security guards from the company and one freelance bodyguard.
A and A’s team are accused of violating the Security Services Industry Act by controlling gates, shining flashlights at passengers near the lounge and inspecting boarding passes while providing security for Byun Woo-seok at Incheon Airport when a crowd of fans gathered on July 12th.
Byun Woo-seok was also reported to the National Human Rights Commission of Korea due to this incident. His agency Varo Entertainment issued an official statement, saying, “We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to passengers during the security process at Incheon Airport. We will take greater care in the future to ensure that such situations do not occur again.”
The police are considering whether to add charges of coercion or obstruction of business against the four individuals involved after further investigation.
