On May 26, Eun Hyun Jang, who runs the YouTube channel King of Business, held a livestream broadcast. Earlier that morning, the Seoul Central District Court conducted a pre-arrest hearing for Kim Se Ui, the head of Garosero Research Institute, on charges including violations of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, defamation, threats, and attempted coercion.
During the livestream, Eun Hyun Jang received news that Kim Se Ui had been arrested. Although he initially cheered and said, “I heard about the arrest before the articles came out,” he soon became overwhelmed with emotion and cried silently for nearly five minutes without being able to continue speaking.
He then confessed, “People who haven’t been cursed at for two years and six months wouldn’t understand,” adding, “My family was insulted, and even my mother’s memorial photo was spread around online. People probably have never seen me like this before.”
Eun Hyun Jang also mentioned actor Kim Soo Hyun, whom he has never personally met, saying, “I said I understood how Kim Soo Hyun felt, and what I meant was understanding what it’s like to be attacked by public opinion all day long. I also went to the Han River several times.”
The bad blood between Eun Hyun Jang and Kim Se Ui reportedly dates back around two years and six months. During that time, Garosero Research Institute repeatedly raised allegations against Eun Hyun Jang involving stock manipulation, cryptocurrency scams, and suspicious wealth claims. Eun Hyun Jang strongly denied the accusations, arguing that the false claims destroyed both his company’s reputation and business operations.
He has also claimed that the controversy caused a major drop in revenue and forced him to carry out staff restructuring. Beyond legal action, Eun Hyun Jang later purchased a 50% stake in Garosero Research Institute and escalated the conflict further by pushing through a proposal to reduce Kim Se Ui’s salary. More recently, as Kim Se Ui’s legal risks increased, Eun Hyun Jang even declared that he would personally become the next CEO of Garosero Research Institute.
Meanwhile, Kim Se Ui was arrested on charges related to spreading false information claiming that the late Kim Sae Ron’s death was caused by financial pressure allegedly imposed by Kim Soo Hyun.
After conducting the pre-arrest hearing, Chief Judge Boo Dong Sik of the Seoul Central District Court approved the arrest warrant requested by prosecutors, stating that there were concerns about destruction of evidence and risk of flight. Although Kim Se Ui argued while appearing at court that the warrant was “filled with obvious falsehoods,” the court sided with the prosecution and emphasized the necessity of detention.
Kim Se Ui is accused of spreading false claims through YouTube and other platforms alleging that Kim Soo Hyun dated Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor and that pressure related to debt repayment directly caused her death. He is also accused of using artificial intelligence technology to manipulate Kim Sae Ron’s voice and fabricate statements claiming she first had sexual relations with Kim Soo Hyun during middle school, further damaging the actor’s reputation.
