After dominating weekday television ratings for seven consecutive weeks, SBS’s Wednesday–Thursday drama Dynamite Kiss is set to air its final episode on December 25, closing out a highly successful run.
Starring Jang Ki Yong and Ahn Eun Jin, the drama will conclude with Episode 14 airing at 10:00 PM KST, a later-than-usual timeslot due to SBS’s year-end programming schedule.
According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 13 — which aired on December 24 — recorded a nationwide rating of 5.9%, with a peak of 6.8%. This performance secured the drama first place in its time slot and marked its seventh consecutive week as the top weekday drama.
Dynamite Kiss tells the story of Go Da Rim, a single woman who disguises herself as a mother to secure a job, and Gong Ji Hyuk, a team leader who unexpectedly falls in love with her. The drama premiered with a modest 4.5% rating, but steadily climbed into the 6–7% range, signaling a revival of weekday dramas.
Its success carries added significance, as it is SBS’s first regularly scheduled Wednesday–Thursday drama in six years, following the end of Secret Boutique in 2019.
Beyond domestic success, the drama has also achieved impressive global results. It ranked No. 1 on Netflix’s non-English TV category for two consecutive weeks, topping charts in 47 countries, including Brazil and Chile, between November 24 and December 7.
Much of the drama’s popularity has been credited to its fast-paced storytelling and the strong on-screen chemistry between Jang Ki Yong and Ahn Eun Jin. Their emotionally nuanced performances during moments of separation and reconciliation resonated deeply with viewers. The duo also ranked No. 1 and No. 2 respectively in the FUNdex TV drama buzzworthy actors chart for two straight weeks.
In recent episodes, Go Da Rim falsely broke up with Gong Ji Hyuk to protect him after being framed as an industrial spy. Refusing to give up, Gong Ji Hyuk uncovered evidence to clear her name and reunited with her, leading into a tense and emotionally charged final chapter.
The finale preview further heightened anticipation by teasing a major crisis involving Gong Ji Hyuk, with Go Da Rim seen running through hospital corridors calling his name — leaving viewers anxious yet hopeful for a happy ending.
