On January 16, Gaeko, a member of the hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo, shared the news through a statement posted on his personal Instagram account. He explained that the decision was made after a long period of thoughtful discussion.

“Last year, after many conversations over a long time, we decided to end our relationship as a married couple while respecting each other’s lives,” Gaeko wrote.

He went on to emphasize that despite the end of their marriage, their roles as parents remain unchanged. “The two of us will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as parents through co-parenting. We would appreciate it if you could look upon us with warmth and understanding,” he added.

In her statement, Kim Soo Mi wrote, “As this is a deeply personal matter, I share it with a cautious heart. After many long conversations, we came to the decision to end our relationship as a married couple, choosing to respect each other’s lives.”

She emphasized that despite the end of their marriage, their roles as parents would remain unchanged: “We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities and roles as parents without change. We kindly ask for your understanding and warm regard, rather than excessive interest or premature assumptions.”

Notably, even after the announcement, Kim Soo Mi chose to keep past photos with Gaeko—including their anniversary posts—visible on her social media, highlighting a sense of mutual respect and emotional maturity.

Gaeko and Kim Soo Mi married in 2011 and have two children a son and a daughter. Kim Soo Mi is a broadcaster and entrepreneur who previously appeared on the beauty variety program Get It Beauty in 2018. She is currently active on social media platforms, including Instagram and YouTube.

The announcement was met with support from fans, many of whom praised Gaeko for addressing the situation calmly and respectfully while prioritizing his children.

As one of the most influential figures in Korea’s hip-hop scene, Gaeko’s personal news has drawn significant attention, though both parties have asked for privacy as they move forward separately.
