HYBE’s global girl group project “Dream Academy” members revealed LE SSERAFIM as their K-pop role model
On November 10th, interviews with the 10 final members who will take the stage at the “Finale Live” were conducted. Emily (USA), Samara (Brazil), Manon (Switzerland), Marquise (Thailand), Yoon Chae (Korea), Megan (USA), Sophia (the Philippines), Daniela (USA), Lara (USA), and Ezrela (Australia) appeared at the interview.
“Dream Academy” is a global girl group audition program co-hosted by HYBE and Universal Music Group’s sub-label Geffen Records where trainees from different races and cultural backgrounds compete fiercely to get the debut opportunity. Last month, the final members held their first fanmeeting at Ilchi Art Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and met with fans in Korea. They are also using Weverse to communicate with fans and they were all surprised to receive huge love from so many people.
Revealing their sincere thoughts on sharing the same “debut” dream and future plans, Lara said, “Dancing and singing are very important. I’ve always wanted to become an ‘artist’ ever since I was young. It was my honor to participate in ‘Dream Academy’, and I know I’m lucky to be in this position. I’m going to take it very seriously.” Emily added, “Since we are a girl group, the fact that I can share the same passion with other members is truly meaningful and precious”.
The members who previously performed LE SSERAFIM’s songs for their second mission in “Dream Academy” referred to LE SSERAFIM as their K-pop role model. Marquise shared, “I’ve said this several times. I really respect Kim Chae-won. Her stage presence really impressed me. Even when I met her in real life, she was very nice and friendly”.
Recalling their meeting with Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and senior singers at HYBE in Korea, Sophia said, “We were very surprised by the visit of Chairman Bang Si-hyuk. He treated us very nicely and I think it was such a great experience that we got to talk with such an important person who created this project”.
Yoon Chae confessed, “I’ve been a fan of BTS since I was little and I watched many videos of Chairman Bang. It was a little weird to see him in real life but it was such a meaningful experience”, adding “I couldn’t believe I met LE SSERAFIM. I’ve listened to their songs and watched their performances since their debut.”
The Top 10 will wrap up the long journey of “Dream Academy” with their last stage on November 18th and the final debut lineup will be unveiled. Ahead of the upcoming finale, the members expressed extraordinary confidence and promised to perform without regrets.
