Dragon Ball Super fans now have a solid reason to celebrate, as the future of the series appears to be secure. With the release of Special Chapter 104 in February and the upcoming launch of Volume 24, the series is continuing strong.
The new volume has been available in Japan starting April 4, 2025, signaling that the manga — originally created by the late Akira Toriyama and illustrated by Toyotarou — will continue to entertain fans for the foreseeable future.

Social media is now flooded with promotional images for the highly anticipated Volume 24. One of the most striking is an image of Black Frieza on the back cover, hinting that he may be the final threat Goku and his friends must face, as also reflected on the main cover.
However, what caught the most attention is the spine illustration, which does not conclude but continues, strongly implying that more volumes are on the way. This hints at new Dragon Ball Super chapters coming soon, fully created under Toyotarou’s direction.
Previously, uncertainty surrounded Dragon Ball Super after the sudden passing of Akira Toriyama in March 2024. The legendary creator’s final animation project was Dragon Ball Daima, a 20-episode special that aired from October 2024 to February 2025 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise — although it was not originally intended for that purpose.
Meanwhile, the Dragon Ball Super manga went on nearly a year-long hiatus following the adaptation of the 2022 film “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero”, with Chapter 103 being Toriyama’s final written contribution. The end of the movie storyline felt symbolic — like a passing of the torch to Toyotarou, his chosen successor.

On February 20, 2025, the manga returned with Special Chapter 104, which explores how Trunks and Goten became superheroes. While some fans enjoyed the nostalgic callbacks and formal introduction of original anime characters, others felt the premise was too generic — still serving mainly as a prelude to the 2022 movie. Regardless, the chapter offered an intriguing glimpse into the new direction of the series under Toyotarou’s penmanship.
Meanwhile, the cover of Volume 24, featuring Ultra Instinct Goku, Ultra Ego Vegeta, Beast Gohan, Orange Piccolo, and Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, sparked mixed reactions. Some fans were surprised by the rougher, more grounded depictions of the Z Fighters — a style that strays from Toriyama’s signature aesthetic. On the other hand, others welcomed the clear stylistic shift that Toyotarou brings as a way of honoring and differentiating from his master.
