“Dr. Romantic Season 3” rating soars to all-time high as a male character makes an unexpected return 

“Dr. Romantic Season 3” recorded a new rating peak after a male lead from Season 1 returned to the drama.

“Dr. Romantic Season 3” witnesses another turn of events when the male lead from Season 1, Kang Dong Ju (Yoo Yeon Seok), returns. His behaviors and decisions sent the Doldam Hospital into a frenzy. Along with this twist is a new rating peak of 14.8% recorded nationwide.  

Specifically, after returning to Doldam, Dong Ju came up with the idea to categorize trauma and non-trauma patients, putting immense pressure on the Doldam Hospital and leaving the trauma center with no patients for 3 days straight. Dong Ju had a fallout with Eun Jae (Lee Sung Kyung) when an emergency case required Kim Sa Bu’s attention but he was preoccupied with another operation. Afterward, Eun Jae decided to follow through with her own decision. Nonetheless, a collusion took place and patients were brought in, leaving the center understaffed.

The episode draws mixed reactions to Dong Ju’s choices and behaviors. In a flashback, it was revealed that Dong Ju told Kim Sa Bu that if he was made responsible for anything, his decision ought to be final. The detail seems to hint that Dong Ju is not a bad guy and he was only trying his best to make the trauma center more efficient. He strives to ensure that the hospital will still receive funding amidst a shortage of budget and human resources. 

Undeniably, this twist brings “Dr. Romantic” back to its course and stimulates the audience’s curiosity for future development.
