Here, JMS refers to a new religion founded by Jeong Myeong Seok in 1978, which is mentioned in the Netflix documentary “In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal”. According to this film, Jeong Myeong Seok was involved in various sexual crimes, and JMS resembles a cult.

Below is the full text regarding Kyoungyoon’s parents’ religion controversy:

“First of all, we would like to apologize to everyone who may have felt uncomfortable due to what was posted on the community today.

We have checked with our artist, DKZ member Kyoungyoon, about the company operated by his family, in relation to rumors circulating on social media and the Internet. As a result of our investigation, Kyungyoon believed that his parents were attending a regular church until many people reported it and until the content of the broadcast was confirmed

As soon as he learned about the controversy, Kyoungyoon was shocked. He has since confirmed the contents of the broadcast and his parents’ business has ceased operations. We have also checked all parts related to any specific organization and would like to clarify that there will be no connection (to JMS).

Since Kyongyoon receives a lot of love from many many, he feels sorry for not properly looking into matters related to himself. While ignorance cannot be an excuse, our artist has no intention to defend the interests or crimes of a specific group. Therefore, please refrain from making excessive speculations or comments.

We apologize once again to everyone who felt uncomfortable due to this situation, and we will also support our artist so that he can become a person who can take care of everything related to him and his surroundings more carefully.”
