Director Hwang Dong-hyuk shared, “‘Squid Game’ Season 2 is already in my head. The success of Season 1 puts pressure on me but…”

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk mentioned Season 2 of “Squid Game”.

According to Entertainment Tonight and Variety on March 14th (local time), Netflix’s original series “Squid Game” director Hwang Dong-hyuk said in the red carpet interview at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards that he was working on Season 2 of “Squid Game”.

Director Hwang shared, “I’m working on it I haven’t started writing it yet, but it’s in my head”, adding, “Everything is a secret, I can’t say anything at the moment”. Regarding Sung Ki-hoon (played by Lee Jung-jae), director Hwang hinted, “He will come back and do something for the world”.

“Season 1 was the best drama in Netflix’s history”, the director mentioned “Squid Game”’s box office success and said, “Although it puts so much pressure on me, I still want to do my best to please the viewers who are waiting for Season 2”.

Meanwhile, at the Critics Choice Awards held in Los Angeles, the U.S, “Squid Game” won Best Foreign Language Series and actor Lee Jung-jae was honored with the Best Actor Award.

Squid Game”, which was released in September last year, tells about a survival game in which 456 people risk their lives and participate to win the prize money of 45.6 billion won.
