On August 5th, Byun Woo Seok attended the VIP preview of the movie “Victory” at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. While numerous celebrities, including Kwon Nara, Ha Ji Won, Lee Je Hoon, Go Won Hee, Bang Min Ah, Park So Jin, Dex and John Park, attended the event and posed on the photo wall, Byun Woo Seok did not.
At the event, Byun Woo Seok skipped the photo wall and headed straight into the theater, avoiding the photographers and reporters. Given that this was his first public appearance since the controversy, all eyes were on him.
The controversy arose on July 12th when Byun Woo Seok was criticized for excessive security measures at Incheon Airport during his departure. The security team protecting him was accused of causing inconvenience to other airport users. While the security company claimed the measures were coordinated with the airport, Incheon Airport officials denied this.
Incheon International Airport Corporation subsequently filed charges against the security personnel for coercion, abuse of power, obstruction of business and defamation. The Incheon Airport Police plan to summon and investigate the security staff involved.
Byun Woo Seok’s agency Varo Entertainment issued a statement on July 15th, saying, “Although we were not aware of the specific details of the security arrangements at the gate and ticket area, we take moral responsibility for any unfortunate incidents that occurred during the security process.”
