The TV anime Dandadan is set to begin airing on October 3, 2024, across 28 MBS/TBS-affiliated stations in the “Super Animeism TURBO” slot. Along with this announcement, the third promotional video (PV) featuring the opening theme “Otonoke” by Creepy Nuts has been released. The ending theme will be “TAIDADA” by Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni, and a comment from the band’s vocalist, ACA-ne, has been shared.
Dandadan is an occult battle and coming-of-age story based on the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, currently serialized on Shueisha’s manga app Shonen Jump+, with over 3.2 million copies in circulation and more than 440 million views. The story follows high school girl Momo Ayase, born into a family of mediums, and her classmate and occult enthusiast, Ken Takakura, known as Okarun, as they confront overwhelming supernatural phenomena using newfound secret powers and curses.
The newly released third PV begins with a scene where Momo and Okarun, battered and bruised, confess to each other that they now believe in aliens and ghosts, things they once doubted. The PV also features several supernatural beings like Turbo Granny (voiced by Mayumi Tanaka), Serpo Aliens (voiced by Kazuya Nakai), and other strange entities chasing after Momo and Okarun. The video highlights the intense atmosphere and introduces new supernatural characters, raising curiosity about who is voicing them.
In the latter half of the PV, the opening theme “Otonoke” by Creepy Nuts plays, perfectly matching the anime’s blend of battles, supernatural elements, and romantic comedy. This has heightened anticipation for how the song will enhance the story in the actual episodes.
Moreover, the ending theme “TAIDADA,” sung by Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni, will also add to the anime’s atmosphere. ACA-ne, the band’s vocalist, shared her thoughts on the song, stating, “I created the song inspired by the feeling of working together even when being enemies, wanting to collaborate more, fight more, not letting annoying things slide, and the happiness of small moments, like the comfort of falling asleep from fatigue or the delight of delicious curry.”
