Comparing the male leads of Korean webtoon-based drama to their original versions

As if they just stepped out of the story, these actors bring to life webtoon characters that are loved by the audience.

The world of Korean cinema is gradually transforming and moving towards dramas with content adapted from comics and many works of this type have achieved success.  Contributing to the success of these works is the presence of handsome male actors who are loved by the audience.

1. Cha Eun Woo, True Beauty

As soon as the webtoon True Beauty was announced to be adapted into a drama, netizens immediately thought of Cha Eun Woo for the character Lee Su Ho because of his appearance.  And right after that, Cha Eun was chosen to play the male lead role alongside Moon Ga Young, creating True Beauty that once caused a craze.

2. Rowoon, Extraordinary You

Extraordinary You is a drama that made the name of actor Rowoon, who previously debuted as a Kpop idol.  Playing the male lead Haru, Rowoon perfectly performed the role as if he was Haru that stepped out of the webtoon.

3. Song Kang, Nevertheless

Although there are still mixed opinions about “Nevertheless“, it is not an exaggeration to say that Song Kang is the best fit to play the role of Park Jae Eon.  Playing the role of a bad boy who always flirts with girls, Song Kang attracts attention with his outstanding beauty and the famous saying: “Going to see butterflies?”.

4. Park Hae Jin, Cheese In The Trap

Adapted from the webtoon of the same name, the work “Cheese In The Trap” now has a TV version and a movie version, both played by actor Park Hae Jin.  Having been appreciated for his acting ability, Park Hae Jin fully conveyed the image of Yoo Jung, a famous and mysterious sunbaenim in the university.

5. Lee Jong Suk, W – Two Worlds

One of the most popular dramas of 2016 was W – Two Worlds, which starred Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo.  W – Two Worlds has a unique storyline that piques viewers’ interest.  A special feature of this drama is the character Kang Chul played by Lee Jong Suk, a handsome chaebol who literally came out of a comic book. Kang Chul then entered the real world of Oh Yeon Joo (Han Hyo Joo) and turned it upside down.

6. Jang Dong Yoon, The Tale Of Nokdu

Jang Dong Yoon has a stellar performance in The Tale Of Nokdu, which is adapted from the manga by author Hye Jin Yang. The Tale Of Nokdu quickly won the hearts of viewers thanks to its romantic, humorous story and the excellent performance of Jang Dong Yoon and the cast.
