Chelsea may have secured a 2-0 win over Fluminense to reach the FIFA Club World Cup final, but tensions flared late in the match as Cole Palmer clashed with teammate Nicolas Jackson over a wasted scoring opportunity.

The match’s hero was new £60 million signing Joao Pedro, who scored both goals—curling in a beautiful strike in the 18th minute before sealing the victory with a powerful finish early in the second half.
However, in the 80th minute, substitute Nicolas Jackson made a powerful run into the box, drawing defenders and opening up a golden chance for Palmer, who was completely unmarked near the six-yard box.
Instead of squaring the ball for an easy tap-in, Jackson went for glory from a tight angle—only to find the side netting. Palmer, visibly furious, raised both arms in disbelief, then slammed his foot into the goalpost in frustration. Moments later, he shouted angrily at Jackson, who could only gesture an apology with his head down.

Jackson’s decision-making is now under scrutiny, especially as Joao Pedro shines just days after his arrival from Brighton. Meanwhile, Liam Delap, Chelsea’s £30 million acquisition, also adds fresh competition to the striker position.
Although Jackson scored 10 Premier League goals (13 in all competitions) last season and has previously received praise from manager Enzo Maresca, discipline remains an issue. He was sent off against Newcastle and again during the Club World Cup group stage match versus Flamengo.

Italian media reports suggest AC Milan have inquired about Jackson amid Chelsea’s squad overhaul. His name has come up in talks involving left-back Archie Brown, who shares the same agent. However, Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Jackson only for the right price.
Chelsea will now face either PSG or Real Madrid in the final on July 13, but the clash between Palmer and Jackson may cast a shadow over the team’s preparations.
