On August 19th, the September issue cover pictorial celebrating Cosmopolitan’s 24th anniversary, featuring 2NE1’s CL, was unveiled.
In the pictorial, CL exuded elegance and chicness, effortlessly pulling off various outfits, including a teddy bear coat, with a cool and intense vibe. It’s said that every shot was so flawless that the entire crew on set couldn’t stop praising her.
During the interview that followed, CL shared, “I like women who are honest, know who they are, and have the courage to say no—those who have their own ‘rules’ and are brave.” She continued, “Fear and courage coexist. I am someone who has to muster a lot of courage to stand in front of people. It’s because of fear that I become courageous, and everything starts with fear.” She also revealed that her curiosity, stemming from a sense of lack, has always driven her to want to learn new things, which has been the starting point for her music.
When asked about what she has gained and lost over her 15-year career, CL responded, “Everyone has seen what I’ve achieved. Likewise, I think everyone has also seen and felt what I’ve lost. I grew up in front of the world, from a young age.” However, when asked what advice she would give to her debut-era self, she smiled and said, “I wouldn’t interfere with myself back then. I wouldn’t say anything!“
CL also mentioned that what gives her the most strength now are the members of 2NE1. She reflected, “The process of reuniting with members is really precious. It wasn’t an easy thing to do. We’ve really become family. The four of us didn’t come together by our own will or choice, right? We were brought together and formed, but after going through so much together and growing, we’ve now become sisters by our own choice.”
