Actors Choi Woo Sik and Jung So Min are ready to deliver fresh romantic comedy vibes with their new SBS drama Would You Marry Me. The press conference for the series took place on October 10 at SBS Hall in Mok-dong, Seoul, with director Song Hyun Wook and cast members Choi Woo Sik, Jung So Min, Bae Nara, Shin Seul Gi, and Seo Beom Jun in attendance.
The drama tells the story of Kim Woo Joo (played by Choi Woo Sik) and Yoo Meri (played by Jung So Min), two strangers who agree to a 90-day “fake marriage” to secure a luxury newlywed home prize. With Song Hyun Wook — known for hits like Another Miss Oh, The Beauty Inside, and The King’s Affection — directing, expectations are high for another well-crafted melodrama with a romantic twist.

Choi Woo Sik takes on his first chaebol role as Kim Woo Joo, the heir to Korea’s oldest bakery chain, Myeongsundang. Jung So Min plays Yoo Meri, a bride-to-be whose life falls apart after a broken engagement and a housing scam. Forced to find a fake husband to claim her prize, she enters into a sweet yet chaotic contract marriage with Kim Woo Joo.
At the press event, Song Hyun Wook praised the casting, saying, “Just watching them on screen makes you smile. They have a natural, puppy-like charm. Both actors are truly perfect for rom-coms.” He also highlighted that while the logline may sound familiar, the unique reversal of relationships and the actors’ chemistry will set it apart.

The stars also expressed their excitement about working together. Choi Woo Sik shared, “Our synergy was so good that I really want to work with her again. The script was bright and fun, and we often improvised beyond what was written.” Jung So Min added, “He received everything I gave in the scenes perfectly, which made acting alongside him a joy. I’d love to work together again.”
Choi Woo Sik also noted the novelty of playing a wealthy heir, admitting that after years of portraying more modest characters, it was refreshing to drive nice cars and live lavishly on screen. Jung So Min, meanwhile, revealed that her trust in director Song Hyun Wook and excitement about working with Choi Woo Sik drew her to the project, describing Would You Marry Me as having a “playful amusement park energy” compared to traditional rom-coms.

The drama premieres on October 10 at 9:50 PM KST, kicking off what is expected to be a charming and heart-fluttering ride.
