Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung Hoon, who became a final couple on Netflix’s dating reality show Single’s Inferno 5, have reportedly not continued their relationship in real life. Rumors suggesting that the two were not a “real couple” outside the show have now been confirmed.
According to reports, although the pair chose each other in the finale released on February 10 and left “Inferno Island” together, their relationship did not develop into a romantic one after filming ended. Instead, they are said to remain on good terms, supporting each other while focusing on their individual lives.
Single’s Inferno is a bold dating reality series set on a remote island where singles must form couples in order to escape. In Season 5’s final episode, five couples were formed: Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung Hoon, Kim Min Ji and Song Seung Il, Lim Su Bin and Park Hee Sun, Lee Joo Young and Kim Jae Jin, and Kim Go Eun and Woo Sung Min.

Among them, Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung Hoon drew particular attention from viewers curious about whether their on-screen chemistry would continue off-screen. During the final selection, Lee Sung Hoon expressed his sincere feelings, saying he wanted to get to know her better outside the show and that he would visit her wherever she was, whether in Korea or the United States. Choi Mina Sue also shared that she felt like the best version of herself when she was with him and ultimately chose him as the person she wanted to leave the island with.
However, speculation intensified on February 12 when photos circulated online allegedly showing Lee Sung Hoon spending time at what appeared to be an amusement park with a woman who had long straight hair. The images fueled rumors that the two were not dating in real life. Sources later clarified that although Choi Mina Sue and Lee Sung Hoon are not romantically involved, they have maintained contact and remain friendly.

Meanwhile, producer Kim Jae Won addressed the topic of “real couples” during an interview in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, on February 13. He noted that Single’s Inferno has often been criticized for not producing many confirmed real-life couples compared to other dating programs. However, he hinted that Season 5 has produced several genuine couples, though the issue may revolve more around whether participants are willing to go public with their relationships. He admitted that the production team sometimes feels disappointed when cast members hesitate to confirm public dating.
Kim also revealed that the team once considered including a clause about public relationships in participant contracts, but legal advice warned that such a requirement would violate privacy rights. As a result, they created a spin-off program, Single’s Inferno Reunion, to openly discuss the contestants’ relationship statuses. According to the producer, the cast members answered honestly when asked about their real-life dating situations.
