A newly introduced member of the boy group idntt has unexpectedly gone viral not because of his performances, but because of an old story from before his debut.

The rookie group has gradually unveiled its lineup, bringing the total number of confirmed members to 20. Although idntt has yet to officially debut as a full group, it has been introducing sub-units, with its latest team, itsnot5ver, scheduled to make its debut on July 13.

One of the newest members, Cho Eunchan, is already familiar to some K-pop fans through his appearance on the survival program Debut Plan, where he was eliminated before the final rounds.

Shortly after Eunchan’s official introduction through the group’s X (formerly Twitter) account, screenshots from one of his old social media videos began circulating online. The caption on the clip immediately caught fans’ attention, referencing “the story of a man from Hong Kong who sent expensive gifts and photos in an attempt to date me.”

As more of the original video resurfaced, viewers learned that Eunchan had been recounting an unusual online experience. In the clip, he explained that the admirer repeatedly contacted him and continued making advances despite being rejected.

According to Eunchan, he eventually told the individual that the persistent behavior made him uncomfortable and that he would stop responding if it continued. The admirer reportedly apologized but continued asking him to date or at least remain in contact, even offering to send him around USD 100 each month in exchange for maintaining the relationship or continuing their conversations.

Eunchan said he firmly declined the proposal and warned that he would block the person if the messages did not stop. He also claimed the admirer threatened self-harm after being rejected. Feeling concerned, Eunchan tried to encourage the individual by saying there were many other people they could meet. The exchange eventually ended when the admirer blocked him and canceled the gifts that had previously been sent.

The resurfaced video has quickly spread across online communities, with many netizens reacting with amusement over the bizarre situation and Eunchan’s candid storytelling. Many commented that the way he recounted the experience made the incident even more entertaining.

The old clip has also sparked discussion among fans ahead of idntt’s debut, though Eunchan never discussed his own sexuality in the video. Instead, the story focused solely on an unexpected online encounter that has now become one of the group’s earliest viral moments.
